I had done a little stitching on the band sampler between classes, mostly just the prep work I needed for the next set of classes, but when I finished the second set of classes I became quite obsessed by this piece.
Di's band sampler consists of seven main bands which she has put together from her favourite bands that appear on historical samplers.
These bands are made up of a variety of specialised stitches used to stitch them. There is also the use of Gilt 3 metal thread throughout the sampler.
Needless to say I have been working on this piece sometimes obsessively over the past year. I am totally hooked, I have not been able to put her down.
I almost had this stitched before the end of 2023, but we were away for 3 weeks so I couldn't finish it.
My plans for Easter are to finish stitching this.
So this is where I am at and what I need to stitch to finish...
Band 1 - Elizabethan Plaited braid and gold border (Bottom band)
Band 2 - Metal grapes, half the metal in the central vein
Band 3 - White flowers and pink trellis dots
Band 4 - finished
Band 5 - The gold strapwork, strawberry flower borders and centers
Band 5a - My name which I am saving until the end
Band 6 - Eyelets
Band 7 - finished
So, that's what I will be concentrating on over the weekend. I hope everyone else finds something to stitch on that you totally love too. Happy Easter.
